An adventure always begins with an encounter. Here, it all started with Neurosystem meeting the people of the Utopia cinema. The idea came up of a special cinema and music night dedicated to electronic music & cultures : a documentary and live performances were chosen to illustrate their origins and their mutations. Chain reactions : a network builds up and interactions spark up within Bordeaux and way beyond… borders quickyly vanish, and eventually this first edition hosts artists from Detroit, Berlin, Sofia, Paris, Toulouse, the Basque Country etc. each bearing their own history and identity. Over a whole month, E.Motion links together 10 parties, a conference, multimedia installations, audiovisual concerts and mixes, giving evidence that collective and alternative approaches are possible by breaking the usual walls and landmarks between styles and practices. The need for sharing, thinking and acting are more relevant than ever in this critical era of technological and social upheavals : E.Motion stems from this realisation and offers a coherent and festive outlet to all new forms of expressions. E.Motion is the sum of numerous independent entities (private venues and promoters, collectives, individual artists) who contributed to the production and organisation of this wide and open-minded line-up. We want to give them very special thanks, along with all the friends and professionals who involved their precious ideas and energy into this ambitious process.
